Late Spring & Summer Lawn and Landscape Tips

With the later part of Spring approaching and Summer just around the corner all of us at Grass Master are getting ready for the warmer temperatures and those pesky insects and lawn diseases that follow. Here are a few lawn and landscape tips to keep your lawn looking vibrant throughout the rest of the warmer temperatures!
- Never remove more than 1/3 of the grass blade with a single mowing.
- Keep your mowers blades sharp, dull blades fray turf resulting in a brownish cast.
- Water your turf deeply when natural rainfall is not sufficient. (At least 1” per week).
- Beds should be mulched to a depth of 2”-3”.
Along with the warmer temperatures we will soon be seeing insects invading and lawn diseases appearing. The most common turf damaging insect is the White Grub. These pesky insects feed on the root system of the grass plants in your lawn. Left untreated they are capable of doing severe damage in a short amount of time. The most common turf disease in the later spring months is Red Thread. This disease gives off a reddish/pinkish cast and is caused by warm, moist conditions.
