Grass Master

Prevent Weed Creep

It starts slowly. You might not even notice it at first. But before you know it, you're dealing with a full-scale invasion. That's right - your neighbor's weeds can quickly become your weeds if you're not careful. Don't fret. Grass Master has a few tips for keeping your lawn weed-free even if your neighbors aren't quite as vigilant.

Talk to Them

It’s best to approach your neighbor with a friendly tone. Let them know that you notice their weed problem and offer suggestions to improve their yard (cough, Grass Master, cough) like the helpful neighbor you are. If they seem uninterested in your suggestions, let them know that you are concerned about weeds spreading to your lawn and others throughout the neighborhood. Hopefully they will take action for the greater community good.

Landscape Your Property Lines

Landscaping features like raised mulch beds areas, rock gardens or shrubbery create a buffer zone between your neighbor’s weed-infested lawn and your pristine lawn. These will improve the look of your property (curb appeal, anyone?) and it’s slightly less aggressive than our next suggestion.

Build a Wall (Fence)

And make your neighbors pay for it! Sorry – we got carried away. But if neighborly diplomacy fails, a fence will effectively keep your neighbor’s weeds out of your lawn. Opt for a wooden fence with the boards as close to each other as possible. Or you could install a transparent fence so your neighbors can still see your weed-free lawn—if you’re into that type of thing.

Keep a Healthy Lawn

Honestly, and this isn’t a sales pitch, the best way to keep your lawn weed-free and stay on good terms with your neighbors (we all need a cup of sugar every once-in-a-while) is to fertilize your yard for healthy grass and weed prevention. You can do this yourself, or you can let the experts at Grass Master take care of it for you. Our Deluxe Lawn Care Program and Organic Lawn Care Program will keep the weeds out even if all of your neighbors have them.
